FIRST AID FIRE FIGHTING APPLIANCES:

These can be classified into different types based on the media used

  1. Water type : Soda Acid, Chemical Foam , Water Co2, M/Foam

  2. Powder type : DCP, ABC

  3. Gas type : Co2, NAF PIV

Portable Fire Extinguishers.

Fire extinguishers shall be provided at conspicuous locations in the buildings. The extinguishers shall be hung on brackets or kept in shelves and shall have their bottoms 1000mm above the floor level some of the extinguishers shall be mounted on wheels to facilitate movement, extinguishers shall not be kept too close to the equipment.
The minimum number of extinguishers to be provided shall be as under:
Admin. buildings
 For every 300 sq.mtr floor area

Co2 4.5 kg fire extinguisher/
ABC 5kg fire extinguisher
 1 No.
Technical building Every 100 sq.mtr floor area
 Co2 4.5 kg fire extinguisher/
ABC 5kg fire extinguisher
 1 No.
 
Transformer / sub station / switchgear room
 Each room / cubical area
 Co2 4.5 kg fire extinguisher/
ABC 5kg fire extinguisher
 2 No.
 
Outside of Equipment room/ lobbies / stair case lobbies/ other area with electrical equipments

Fire bucket for water
